The 2019 Food Tech Summit & Expo Mexico Innovation Award.

CHICAGO - Today, the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) presented Neogen Latinoamérica with the 2019 Food Tech Summit & Expo Mexico Innovation Award at the Food Tech Summit & Expo in Mexico City, Mexico. Two additional companies, Cosucra and Delimix de Chihuahua, received honorable mentions for their submissions.

Now in its third year, the award honors outstanding innovation in products, ingredients, technologies, instrumentation, equipment, and services that were commercially introduced prior to January 1, 2019.

“IFT is proud to recognize three companies for their meaningful advancements as part of the 2019 Food Tech Summit & Expo Mexico Innovation Award,” said Christie Tarantino-Dean, IFT CEO. “The winner, as well as the honorable mentions, illustrate how food and beverage companies are working to offer meaningful products that address issues and meet consumer needs.”   

Neogen Latinoamérica captured the award for their submission ‘Listeria Right Now’. The ANSR Listeria Right Now system is capable of detecting very low amounts of Listeria spp. in less than one hour, including L. monocytogenes from environmental samples, without requiring enrichment. The system employs an isothermal amplification reaction, based on nucleic acids, to target the rRNA. The amplification occurs through a polymerization mechanism by means of a specific endonuclease. Detection occurs in real time, using a fluorescent molecular beacon.

Cosucra achieved an honorable mention for its product PisaneTM Functional Pea Protein, which is distributed in Mexico by FXM Ingredients. Pisane® is a nutritional, functional and sustainable pea protein that can stand in place of major allergens.

Delimix de Chihuahua also received an honorable mention for its product Veganovo. Veganovo is made with Delimix technology and is the only ingredient of plant origin capable of replacing eggs in 100 percent of bakery products. With veganovo, vegans can continue to consume bakery products from the sweet bread segment (cakes, muffins, pancakes, etc.) while following the traditional recipes of these products. This product does not contain animal proteins or cholesterol, it is gluten free, as well as free of dyes and preservatives.

With more than 350 exhibitors, the Food Tech Summit & Expo Mexico allows Latin American companies in the food and beverage industry to highlight their products and services, share sensory experiences, and showcase their latest innovations.
